Starting a Sentence with -ing Words

Starting a sentence with an -ing word can help you write more complex sentences that create action and communicate more than one idea.

For Example: Running towards the bus, I realized I forgot my homework on my bed.

Notice how this sentence has present tense action. Multiple ideas are communicated in once concise sentence.

This sentence is much better than: I ran towards the bus. I realized I forgot my homework.

Another example: Staring down from the top of the roller coaster, I had never been so afraid and excited in my life.
