Some Quick Writes for the Next Week
Below are some Quick Writes you can do each day to help fill your notebook. I’d say a paragraph per day is good, but as with all Quick Writes, these are really just to help you with your own thoughts and ideas. I’m not checking them and you don’t have to hand them in. You can choose to answer the questions directly or just write a bit about your day, mind state, or whatever you feel like writing about.
Tuesday 4/7: How has life changed for you in the last month?
Wednesday 4/8: What are two things you miss the most from “normal” life?
Thursday 4/9: How have you maintained relationships with people outside your household? Has it brought you closer in any way?
Monday 4/13: Today marks one full month since school closed. How are you holding up emotionally? What are the positives? What are the negatives?
Tuesday 4/14: Based on the article on maintaining mental health during quarantine, what things can you do to help manage your mental health?
Writing is a proven way to positively deal with our thoughts and emotions. It’s very likely that this is a difficult time for you and those you live with. People are social by nature and need each other. Think about it this way: In prison, the worst punishment is solitary confinement, where prisoners are locked in a room all by themselves with no contact with any inmates. Nearly all people in solitary confinement can’t wait to get out. People are so desperate for connection that they’d rather be among violent criminals than alone. Stay in touch with friends and family; it’s important for you and for them.
