Seniors go to A205; The Rule and The Allegory of the Cave

8 Mar

12th Grade:

Since so many of you were out getting pancakes yesterday, we will try this again today…

Meet in room A205. You will begin a basic exploration of conspiracy theories.

On Kidblog, pick 5 conspiracy theories from the articles below. Explain what the theory is (in your own words, do not copy and paste) and write down whether or not you buy into it.

Here are some places to explore:

9th Grade:

I will check the questions from yesterday’s article.

Mental Puzzle:

Can you figure out the rule?

Here are 3  numbers that follow my rule: 2, 4, 8

Your job is to suggest three numbers, and then I will tell you if it follows the rule or not.

Do this until you can guess what the rule is.

Plato’s Allegory of the Cave

Watch Plato’s Allegory of the Cave. And answer the questions below in your notebook.

  • In your own words, explain the Allegory of the Cave.
  • Why do the prisoners believe the shadows are real?
  • Why does the freed prisoner have trouble understanding that the shadows are cast by actual objects and things?
  • How do the other prisoners react when the freed prisoner tells them about the outside world?
  • How do the prisoners explain the freed prisoner’s story about the outside world?
  • What does Plato’s Allegory of the Cave say about our ability to change our minds?
  • What does the Allegory say about how we perceive reality?
