Computer Lab-MLK Midterm Practice; Work Habits Grade

19 Jan

Today our classes will meet in room A206.

9th Grade: Work on the following written prompt for the Martin Luther King Jr. “I Have a Dream” speech.  Here is the full text of the speech. Post your answer on Kidblog.

Your Task:

Closely read the speech and write a well-developed, text-based response of two to three paragraphs. In your response, identify a central idea in the text and analyze how the author’s use of one writing strategy (literary element or literary technique or rhetorical device) develops this central idea. Use strong and thorough evidence from the text to support your analysis. Do not simply summarize the text.

12th Grade: On Kidblog, please evaluate your work habits for the second quarter. Review the class notes here, and provide a thoughtful and honest assessment of your work habits this quarter. Give yourself a grade for your work habits and justify it through specific details. Write in paragraph form, no bullets.

Consider the following in your response:

  • Are your working to the best of your ability?
  • Could you have done better? How?
  • What did you do well?
  • How can you improve next quarter?
  • Review the positive and negative columns in the notes, which apply to you, and which do not.

This assignment will be factored into your work habits grade. So, the more thorough, realistic, and honest you are, the higher your work habits grade will be.
